“Moreover, it is my job, my children’s bread,” he says with a laugh. Then he corrects, “Well, no more from my children, from my grandchildren.” And he laughs out loud. The year of pandemic It has been ups and downs for the singer. That concert on March 7 was scheduled for a year to celebrate his 50-year career.

“We were going to do it in May to coincide with Mother’s Day, but at the time I was still scared, I didn’t want to go out.”

Little by little, D’Alessio’s faith grew and fear gave way to trust, precisely thanks to Psalm 91.

“My decision to leave after a year has to do with reading these verses: ‘He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will dwell in the shadow of the Almighty.’ I am going under the shadow of the almighty and no plague will come upon me.

While he was inside quarantine, Lupita never lost sight of the importance of music in her life: “It is essential in humans, music cannot die. It would be necessary to call the producers and managers a little bit so that they move more to do these concerts online. We have been without concerts for too long ”.

When he says it is his grandchildren’s food, it is clear that it is a joke, but he accounts for the moment he is alive and a few coincidences: on the same March 7, his son Ernesto turns 43 and a few days later he is also his birthday: “I am 67 years old but as I always say: the old are the children, not us.”

“We will have a special guest, she will sing with me ‘My heart is a gypsy’ and it will be very nostalgic for many people who have met 17 year old Lupita”. The desire to reveal the name convinces him: “I’m going to do it with my granddaughter Sara María D’Alessio. It’s a concert by 50 years of career and that is why it starts with a poem I wrote in 1986 ”.

‘That poem reflects what I think about spirituality, what happens when you are poor in spirit, selfish.

“We had the opportunity to add more songs, some that we hadn’t played in a long time. For example, “It’s a danger,” which I really like. There are 22 songs for a concert of almost two hours in which I also tell you about what we are experiencing now ”.

Because although he already has enough faith to go out and perform this concert, D’Alessio is clear that the pandemic will not end: “I don’t want to sing the victory; we still hope that the vaccine I have arrived”.

The politician’s family has denied the charges and it is at this point that Lupita feels her son should stop responding.

“César has not been sold, they have not paid us anything, we are not interested in his ill-gotten money. I paid my son for his nose surgery, which left him crooked; has injured vocal cords. This was abuse of power, it was corruption, that’s why so many mothers of missing children are standing before the government. I am a mother who wants righteousness, but I also know that righteousness is a person, Jesus Christ ”.

As a mother, Lupita has a clear answer: “I don’t want César to go through the same thing as in Tlatelolco, in Ayotzinapa, in so many other cases of young people raising their voices. I thank God on my knees that my son is alive ”.
