Losing your temper on a flight will hurt your wallet.
A passenger who reportedly punched a Delta flight attendant in the face in October on a flight from Miami to Atlanta will be fined $ 27,500.
Federal Aviation Administration officials announced the fine Friday, ABC News reported.
The unnamed passenger on the Oct. 19 Delta flight was traveling and seated next to another passenger who refused to wear his mask, fasten his tray or fasten his seat belt, the FAA said.
Pilots then returned the flight to the gate and flight attendants asked the two passengers to leave the plane.
“In response, the passenger accompanying the nonconforming traveler ignored the flight attendant’s instructions, began shouting expletives at the flight attendant and other passengers, and slapped the flight attendant under her left eye,” the FAA said.
The FAA said last month it would tackle unruly passengers without warning. They said fines amount to $ 35,000 and passengers could face jail time.
