PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Health Services announced Tuesday that extreme winter weather across the country has delayed the delivery of COVID-19 vaccine doses to the state this week.

Officials say because of these delays, some county health departments have told the ADHS to cancel appointments in the next two days.

ADHS says sufficient doses are available to state vaccination sites and other sites that administer the Pfizer vaccine to continue without interruption.

Officials say they are in regular contact with federal and local partners to monitor this situation.

ADHS did not specify which counties notified them of cancellations, or how many appointments this will affect.

Maricopa County says they are not canceling appointments, but will continue to evaluate offerings during the day tomorrow and coordinate with ADHS.

ABC15 is working on figuring out how counties will notify people if their appointment is canceled and whether there is an immediate opportunity to reschedule.
