Expert weighs in on Nashville explosion, says bombings ‘not a spur of the moment thing’

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) – As authorities continue to investigate Friday morning’s blast in downtown Nashville, experts tell NewsChannel 5 they strongly believe the site where the bomb went off was not an accident.

There was so much planning that should have taken place to coordinate an explosion like this, and experts say that in such coordination, someone usually gets the credit sooner rather than later. That was not the case here, because there must still be someone who claims responsibility for all this damage.

NewsChannel 5 previously spoke with Alex Little, a former senior prosecutor in our area. He says the goal is usually to cause as much collateral damage as possible in an explosion of this magnitude, and that includes a massive loss of human life.

The fact that we heard a warning beforehand leads Little to believe the motif was much more refined.

‘This thing went off around 6:30 on Christmas morning. We have witnesses who say no one was there the night before, so this was something that was going to happen in the morning. Then you have someone who has gone to the trouble of getting a recording, to spend time and risk detonating the bomb to send this warning 30 minutes before it went off. So this is not just anything. It took a lot of planning, ”said Little.

Little also said, “If you’re going to attack and don’t take credit for it, the person you’re going to attack knows why you’re doing it.”

He says researchers will need to look behind the scenes at every possible motive behind this, including how it all relates to AT&T.

Little also said that as an investigator, he would take a closer look at the surveillance video we have where we can hear the message from the RV.

The video was posted from a Twitter and YouTube account created today and has no previous posts.

Little says you should investigate if this was posted by someone involved in the bombing. NewsChannel 5 will provide more details as they become available, but Little says he will also stay up to date with the latest information.
