Ex-Trump appointee arrested in Capitol riot complains he can’t sleep in jail

Federico Guillermo Klein, a former State Department staffer who was arrested Thursday for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol uprising, has reportedly complained that he cannot sleep in jail.

Klein appeared for his first virtual hearing before US magistrate Zia M. Faruqui in Washington, DC on Friday, where prosecutors would like to put him in prison after next week’s hearing, The Washington Post reports.

In response to the news, Klein, who had top secret permission until he resigned the day before President BidenJoe Biden, Trump State Department appointee arrested in connection with Capitol FireEye riot finds evidence Chinese hackers have been exploiting Microsoft email app flaw since January Biden officials to travel to border amid influx of young migrants LAKE‘s inauguration, called for better sleeping conditions.

“I wonder if there is some place I can stay in detention where I won’t let cockroaches crawl over me while trying to sleep. … I mean, I really haven’t slept that much, Your Honor,” Klein said at the end of the hearing, the Post said.

He added, “It would be nice if I could sleep in a place where there weren’t cockroaches everywhere.”

Faruqui reportedly responded to Klein’s request by assuring him that his concerns would be allayed should he encounter such problems in DC prison.

“Very well, I appreciate that,” Klein replied, reported the Post.

Klein is facing six charges, including assault, resisting or obstructing certain weapons, and violent and disorderly conduct on Capitol Grounds. His arrest marks the first time a Trump-appointed person has been criminally charged in connection with the riot.

Klein’s requests follow the prison demands of another Capitol rioters: Jacob Chansley, known as the “QAnon Shaman,” was moved to another facility last month to meet his organic diet.
