Are you participating in the Olympia preseason?
Yes, I went on Saturday, then we had a few days off and we already started training with everything.

Was the absence of training due to your Covid infection?
The truth is, yes, I was infected with Covid-19, that’s why I didn’t go to training, but there’s also the problem that everyone knows and that’s that I don’t have a contract either and I’m in it.

Did the Covid affect you greatly?
No, I had a headache and body aches for two days, but thank god it didn’t hit me hard and I’m back.

How long were you isolated?
I was isolated for 11 or 12 days. Being from Costa Rica I had symptoms and what I did was isolate myself, I told my wife and my kids that because of that problem I couldn’t be with them and I was in a room, they just brought me food. Can you imagine not being able to see your children?

How difficult was that moment for you?
It’s very difficult, but we know it’s mandatory because we don’t want any of our family members to get infected. We had to get strong and stay locked up for a while, watch TV and on social networks. It was a bit of suffering, but the family understands.

Did your infection come from sharing a room with Menjívar?
Yes, I shared a room with him. When we got to Costa Rica they did the tests on Monday and the next day he was positive and I negative, but the days I was there I was infected too. They had changed rooms, but I was already infected.

How were you living at the time when you couldn’t play the game?
I felt symptoms, but I wasn’t sure and it was hard to know to miss a game, but you didn’t know what could happen. Thank goodness only two days with body aches and now I’m back in training.

How’s your renovation going?
While in Costa Rica we spoke to the president that we would sit down to talk when we got to Honduras, but as I tested positive for Covid, the ‘president’ called me to ask how I was doing, and he departed for a trip and did not return from the United States, the United States or Europe. I’m waiting for him to sit down and talk.

Do you not see any problems with your extension?
No, I don’t think there are any problems. I want to be in the institution and I think they love me. We wait for the time to sit down to talk.

Have there been offers from other teams?
No, not really, I don’t have any offers from other teams and at the moment I’m only dealing with Olimpia.

As a captain, would it be difficult to figure out a way out where you got it right?
Lately we’ve been doing well, not always because I’m one of the few players who was in that three-year ‘combo’ without winning a title and losing two finals to the arch-rival. We’ve had bittersweet moments and right now, thank goodness, we’ve done well, we’ve become champions, and we want to continue making history.

How do you come back after the injury?
It is now going well and I explain why many problems were dealt with, namely my knee, what I had was a tear in the back (right leg). I started training very early after the tear I had in the game against Motagua and I broke down again three times because I wanted to play fast, for the love of the team.

Have you returned to the clasp to raise the glass?
That’s the best. I tell you I was already healed from the tear in the semi-final against Motagua, but during practice I jumped and Deiby put me on the bench, I fell on my back and had a problem, where I was three days without being able to to walk.

I thought I was going to lose the tournament and I didn’t train for four days, I couldn’t bear the pain, but after the first game against Marathon I felt better, I started training for four days and before the game in San Pedro because I was braver and had that experience, the teacher decided to put me on the list, I went in alone for a while to raise my glass.

How do you see this team to achieve a triple championship?
We are doing well, the base of the team that played is being maintained and we have done well. There is the dream of staying with another championship, becoming a three-time champion, but there are rivals up front that must be respected.

Is Olympia the call to withdraw the title?
You can say yes because of the numbers and what we have done internationally, but there are other teams that have done well and you have to respect them. It will be a tournament equal to or worse than the others, where the teams that have not emerged as champions, the so-called greats, want to take the title from us.

As Olimpia’s captain, do you dream of winning a three-time championship?
That’s every player’s dream, to get the most out of it, to become a champion, but there are rivals you have to get over before you think about it. We go little by little like we were the previous tournament and add points, then things will happen by itself.

What is the order of the captains in the team?
The main one where you talk to him ha ha ha Then there are Jerry, Menjívar and then Patón. That is the order.

Does Troglio choose them or from the group?
One part is chosen by the time spent in the club and the other by the coach. For example; Jerry had just arrived and Manolo said if I wasn’t wrong, Patón wasn’t playing, Edrick very little and there Bengtson showed up and you already know what an experienced player means and they decided to give him second place in the captain’s armband. Immediately after the teacher came to Troglio, Jerry was said to be the second captain.

How is your availability for the national team?
Thank god I just need a rhythm to play that’s the most important thing. We had conversations with the teacher and he asked me how I am doing.

What do you dream of in the national team?
Going to the World Cup is the dream that every player has, to be excellent, to have a chance outside, but this is one step at a time.

Can you dream of going to Qatar with your community?
Of course why not? We know about the competence he’s had with other teams and they criticize him for being small teams, but we as players and football connoisseurs, the Coito teacher, besides being a very good person, are a very good coach.

What do you have to achieve in football?
Going to the World Cup is a dream, but I’d rather be out of the country for a few years to play abroad, as it’s good for your family economically. That’s a dream I’m awaiting since I was in Kansas and it wasn’t much, but at the age of 29 and if I’m doing a good tournament I can give myself the chance.

What do you regret not achieving so far?
I could say I was not going to stay in Kansas longer and I might be a little sorry, but it was no longer my decision, but the coach’s. The family would be quieter in the United States.

Do you prefer an MLS or a Mexican rival in the Champions League?
Just like we came I would pick one from the MLS because we already eliminated two hahaha. The Mexican teams are very strong, look where Tigres is and the MLS teams have good players, but they are more accessible.
