ETECSA launched new internet offers for freelance programmers with prices of up to 24,125 pesos per month, depending on the speed of the connection, as announced by the Cuban telecommunications monopoly.
The offer consists of two types of services, one for Nauta Hogar of 240 or 480 hours, and another for an asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) of the connection type with a fixed tariff, which will be reserved exclusively for people with a license as’ programmers of computer equipment “.
Etecsa specified that Nauta Hogar’s 240 hours costs 2000 pesos per month, while the 480 hours costs 3500 pesos. The initial qualification service costs 250 pesos and the additional hours in case of exceeding the plan 12.50 pesos.
Payment for the service is made at the end of the month via an invoice that can be paid with “international top-ups, top-up coupons or direct top-ups in commercial units”, or through “Transfermóvil, telecommunications agents, banks, post office or commercial units of ETECSA” .
For the ADSL connection, the offer includes the “installation and contracted data service using digital connections permanently connecting its computer network to other networks, in accordance with the quality specifications defined”, reported ETECSA.
The state-owned company offers different speeds based on “what you need for your business with a flat rate and with the option of using international mail.” The speed and price range fluctuates between 12/128 Kbps for 1250 pesos and 6144/1025 Kbps with a price of 24 125 pesos.
To which is added a fixed price for the required initial installation worth 2,500 pesos; and a specification from the company clarifying that sales of the modem depend on the “model”, while “higher speeds, between 8 and 12 Mbps, depend on technical facilities.”
To opt for these services, customers must apply electronically by sending their request to the email: [email protected]
Although the documentation required for the application is the following:

In 2017 Cuban authorities paralyzed the licensing of “computer equipment programmers”, along with other private activities.
However, in 2021, Cuba released private work with some restrictions, but Cuban Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Feito Cabrera, reported that the country would not scrap any activities on its own account that were already being carried out today, including those whose licenses were paralyzed.
