ESPN 300 runs down Camar Wheaton made a commitment to Alabama on Wednesday, adding to Crimson Tide’s No. 1 recruiting class.
Wheaton is the No. 41-ranked prospect overall, a 1.5-foot-tall, 195-pound back from Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, Texas. He chose Alabama over Oklahoma and gives the Crimson Tide 20 ESPN 300 pledges.
He is the first running back commit in this class for Alabama, but he is the fifth ESPN 300 to land the program in the past three classes.
His dedication gives Nick Saban and his staff seven pledges in the top 50 and 12 in the top 100. The Tide had already top tier for this commitment, but is now extending their lead over the state of Ohio.
The Buckeyes have two five-star commitments and 17 ESPN 300 prospects. With this commitment, Alabama has three five-star outlook, 20 ESPN 300 commitments, and 25 total class commitments.
The two programs will continue to jockey for position to sign the No. 1 class in February, but this addition will make it difficult for the state of Ohio to catch Alabama.
