Epic Games Store unveils new free game available only today

The Epic Games Store is currently in the middle of the big Christmas sale with numerous titles on the storefront seeing some pretty drastic markdowns. In addition to the discounts, Epic is also giving away a new game every day for the rest of the year. Today, the latest free offering on EGS has now been revealed.

Pushed live on the Epic Games Store earlier today, the market’s new free title available is that of The Long Dark. Developed by Hinterland Studio, The Long Dark is a survival game first released in 2017. In the title, you take on the harshness of the outdoors and receive regular updates to this day.

As mentioned if you want to add however The Long Dark to your own PC library, you need to act quickly. The game is available for free for only one 24-hour period. If you don’t go to the window tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m. EDT, this promotion will time out and you’ll have to pay the usual retail price to pick up the game.

The Long Dark is just the third title the Epic Games Store is giving away as part of this ongoing holiday promotion. The annual giveaway started just two days ago as Cities: Skylines and Oddworld: New ‘n Tasty were handed out for free in consecutive days. It remains to be seen what comes to the program next, but it won’t be long before we find out.

If you’d like to keep following this promotion through the rest of 2020, you can find our coverage on everything Epic Game Store related here.
