Environmentalists are demanding the transfer of the ship from the Ozama River

The Community Environment Action Program (PACMA), one of the organizations most struggling for the community and its natural environment, is demanding immediate action from the Dominican authorities to move and reinstall the Estrella del Mar II electric vessel from the Ozama River. prevent the start-up of the new factory of Estrella del Mar III, which will soon arrive in the country.

Both facilities pose a serious threat to the survival of the Ozama River and its natural environment and jeopardize the area’s progress and development plans, as President Abinader promised to the residents of this area of ​​Santo Domingo.

PACMA members staged a protest campaign in front of the power plant to raise awareness among the community and demand the interest of the Environment Ministry authorities to withdraw the permit for said plant. PACMA president Isaías Lara denounces that “dozens of residents of the communities have complained about the impact of the smoke reaching directly into the homes of the area’s residents.”
