May the royal handwringing stop, says Netflix’s own Princess Diana.

According to Variety, actress Emma Corrin, who portrays the late princess in season four of Netflix’s Emmy-winning drama The crown, fully supports the streamer’s refusal to appease the royal court and its loyal champions, and denies an appeal to put an unnecessary disclaimer prior to the episodes. “It is very clearly a dramatized version of the events,” said Corrin Varietyis Marc Malkin, who interviewed the actress for an upcoming podcast episode. “This is fictional, just as people are not mistaken Succession for what really happened to the Murdochs. I understand it too [the request] comes from a place of sensibility and protection of the royal family and Diana. “

The request she refers to came in early December by the literal hands of the British government culture secretary Oliver Dowden. The official wrote a private letter to Netflix and publicly may have expressed concerns about future generations not understand the difference between real life and fiction, which certainly confuses it pristine royals as (and feel free to gasp here) highly problematic individuals. After suggesting that before the episodes, the platform adds a disclaimer explaining that the content of the show are not really, Netflix responded with a very polite version of “No, we don’t do that nonsense”, pointing out that it is subscribers are smart enough to draw the right line between reality and the moments played in front of television.

Although the show has been a fan favorite since 2016, the most recent season seems to be drawing more attention and clear concern from the British Royal Family is approaching the current timeline and remains an unflattering (but still hypothetical, technical?) light on the otherwise worthy figures. The fourth season covers the years 1977-1990 and is introduced Princess Diana’s tumultuous experience in court. Widows excel Elizabeth Debicki is scheduled to play the elder Diana in the next season.
