Emilia Clarke is in the final negotiations to join Marvel Studios’ “Secret Invasion,” the popular original series that will soon come together in Disney Plus.
The role of the “Game of Thrones” headliner is, of course, hidden, marking her first foray into the Marvel universe. She joins the previously reported cast of Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Olivia Colman.
Marvel Studios declined to comment on the matter. Clarke’s representatives did not immediately comment on the matter.
“Secret Invasion” was announced last year as a development property, one of many Marvel titles planned for Disney Plus. Jackson will reprise his MCU role of Nick Fury, while Mendelsohn will play the Skrull Talos as he did in the feature film “Captain Marvel”.
The series would follow a group of shape-shifting aliens who have been infiltrating Earth for years. Ben-Adir is set as the main villain. Kyle Bradstreet is committed to writing and executive producing. Kevin Feige’s unit produces the series for the streamer, as do all other MCU titles, including the hits ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’.
Clarke is a four-time Emmy nominee for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s worldwide hit “Game of Thrones,” which just celebrated the 10th anniversary of its premiere. She has also been nominated for multiple Critics Choice Awards and received the BAFTA Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year in 2018. Clarke is an AMPAS member and was also listed as one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People. She is represented by Range Media Partners, CAA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller & Gellman.
Her movie credits include the holiday movie ‘Last Christmas’, ‘Me Before You’, ‘Terminator Genisys’ and ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’. She will star in the upcoming animated movie “The Amazing Maurice”.
