Elon Musk applied for a job at Netscape, but couldn’t get through.
Elon Musk is best known today as the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, but long before he made a name for himself in the world of technology, he did odd jobs to figure out what he wanted to do. In fact, it was turned down for a role with Netscape, which led Elon Musk to found Zip2 – the web software company that would later make him a millionaire. This fact came to light when a Twitter user shared an old photo of the billionaire entrepreneur and wrote, “In 1995 @elonmusk wanted to partner with an Internet company.”
The Twitter user went on to say that after graduating, Elon Musk applied for a job at Netscape, an American computer services company. He never got through, so he started his own Internet company Zip2 because “he couldn’t find a job anywhere,” wrote the Twitter user.
Commenting on the statement on Twitter, 49-year-old Musk clarified that he could get a job in the 90s – just not with an internet company, as there weren’t many at the time.
“I could get a job, just not with an internet company (there weren’t many at the time),” wrote Elon Musk.

According to CNBC, Elon Musk revealed in 2012 that he had tried to get a job at Netscape because he was interested in the then internet. Netscape is the company that created the first web browser, Netscape Navigator.
“I really tried to hang out in the [Netscape] lobby, but I was too shy to talk to anyone. So I’m just standing in the lobby, ”he said. It was pretty embarrassing. ‘
In the early 1990s, Mr. Musk also had a brief stint in the game industry. In 1999 he sold his first company Zip2 to Compaq for approximately $ 300 million.
