According to multiple media reports, Russia has not ruled out the idea of President Vladimir Putin talking to Tesla billionaire Elon Musk through the Clubhouse social media app.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday that the proposal was “interesting,” but more details were needed, according to Tass news agency. The news was also reported by Reuters and the Russian media channel RBC.

“First we want to find out, you know that President Putin doesn’t use social networks directly, he doesn’t manage them personally,” Peskov said, according to translated comments.

“Overall, this is a very interesting proposal, but you have to first understand what is being meant, what is being proposed.”

The Kremlin did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

On Saturday, Musk invited Putin via Twitter to talk to him about Clubhouse, an audio-only app that’s rapidly growing after gaining popularity in Silicon Valley.

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX then said in Russian, “It would be a great honor to speak to you.”

According to app tracker App Annie, Clubhouse has been downloaded about five million times. Like other US social media platforms, it was blocked in China last week.

The invitation-only iPhone app allows people to have conversations “onstage” while an audience listens in. Audience members may be invited “on the podium” to ask questions to speakers.

Musk interviewed Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev at Clubhouse on Jan. 30, and last Wednesday, the entrepreneur wrote on Twitter that he has agreed to “do Clubhouse” with Kanye West.

Last month, Clubhouse was valued by investors at approximately $ 1 billion. Twitter has released its own version known as Spaces, while Facebook is reportedly working on a similar product.
