Elizabeth Olsen discusses childhood with sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley

Elizabeth Olsen revealed that she did not pursue an acting career as a child because she was afraid of being connected with her famous twin sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley.

The 32-year-old Wandavision star reflected on her childhood in an interview with Glamor UK’s April Digital Issue, saying she ‘understood what nepotism was’ as a young girl and did not want to try and make a career out of her siblings’ success. . .

She also admitted that she suffered from ‘major panic attacks’ in her twenties, revealing that she had to use ‘a bunch of brain tricks’ to learn how to manage and overcome her fear.

Looking back on her childhood, Elizabeth said, ‘I was 10 and I was curious about auditioning … and I soon realized it wasn’t for me as I missed my sports teams, my dance class and all the extracurricular activities at school.

But during that time I was like, ‘I don’t want to be associated with [Mary-Kate and Ashley]”, for some reason.

‘I think as a 10-year-old I understood how nepotism was by nature. I don’t know if I knew the word, but there is some kind of connection between not earning something that I think bothered me at a very young age.

‘It had to do with my own insecurities, but I was 10. So I don’t know how much I processed, but I thought,’ I’m going to be Elizabeth Chase [her middle name] when I become an actress. ”

Distance: Elizabeth added, “I was like, ‘I’m going to be Elizabeth Chase [her middle name] when I become an actress ” (pictured with her sisters in 2016)

Mary-Kate and Ashley first rose to fame on the sitcom Full House, in which they starred from the age of nine months, both sharing the role of Michelle Tanner from 1987 to 1995.

The twins co-starred in a number of hugely successful films, including Passport to Paris, Switching Goals and Winning London.

In 2012, Mary-Kate and Ashley retired to focus on their joint careers as fashion designers.

Elizabeth went on to talk about her mental health issues and admitted, “I’ve had major panic attacks for a long time. It was totally grueling. I lived alone in New York and was 22.

‘I did not know [anxiety] was something you had no control over. And the problem is the control part.

“And then I just learned a lot of brain tricks from friends who actually went to a neuropsychiatrist and instead of taking medication, I decided to do it that way.”

She continued, “In panic attacks, you have to shift your attention from ‘whatever you’re running’ to something else.

‘It was [about] being present in the moment and identifying all things around you in order not to turn. ‘

The Avengers: Endgame star went on to say that she previously thought she wasn’t going to be an actress, and instead had plans to go into funding.

“I thought I was going to be on Wall Street,” Elizabeth claimed. ‘I don’t know what I wanted, I was just good at math.

‘And so I’m good at science [I thought] maybe I should do something like that. But in the end, I really like acting. ‘

Elizabeth also said she has no plans to return to social media because she didn’t enjoy the ‘character version of’ [herself]’ am working on it.

She said: ‘I’ll never go back to social media. And it’s not even like I was bullied. It’s not even like anything happened.

‘[I thought] wait, why am I even trying to make a character version of myself and spread it around the world?

And the whole thing just made me uncomfortable and it’s not even like I really paid any attention to comments or anything.

‘I just felt weird how it organized my brain … I’m not one to obsess over using a platform in any way.’
