Former congressman and political leader, Elías Serulle, was sworn in as a new member of the People’s Force on Tuesday afternoon, weeks before announcing his departure from the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).
Serulle was sworn in by the president of that political organization, Leonel Fernández, along with his entire political team.
During the same act, Serulle’s current deputy and wife, Lourdes Aybar, also joined the People’s Force.
The former ambassador was a member of the former official party for 27 years and was already part of the central committee of that organization but resigned because he ‘understands’ that the party founded by Professor Juan Bosch ‘lost its end’ and that the reasons for that has led to the abandonment of power, and that he feels that connection with the base of that organization has been lost.
Aybar resigned from the PLD just a day after his wife did, for exactly the same reasons. With this, there are six delegates who joined the People’s Force after last July’s elections.
The activity took place this afternoon in a hotel in the capital.
