Election Commissioner of the PPD requests correct disclosure of results in Humacao

The election commissioner of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD), Gerardo Cruz Maldonado, reported today, Thursday, that he has asked the chairman of the State Election Commission (CEE), Francisco Rosado Colomer, to correct the disclosure of at least four polling stations for the Senate District of Humacao.

This, as reported, is due to data entry errors established by PPD officials affecting the outcome of those elections.

“On December 31, I warned that the candidate for senator for the Popular Party, Hill Roman, would prevail in that case. The manner and manner in which the works were carried out at the end of the overall audit prompted the CEE to make data entry errors itself, which allowed false information to be disclosed in the districts of Humacao, Maunabo and San Lorenzo. The corrections we are requesting will raise 62 votes for Hill Roman, ”said Cruz Maldonado at a press conference.

Commissioner Cruz’s request was accepted, prompting a board of the Office of Electronic Systems and Procedures (Osipe) of the CEE to verify the results for senatorial applications for the Humacao district. Cruz understands that the correction of the disclosures on the CEE website will affect the results of these applications. If Osipe can verify the information, it is expected that the results announced so far will be reversed.

According to the result published by OSIPE on December 31, 2020, Hill Román lost the election by 42 votes. However, we have always said that the accelerated way the works were carried out during the investigation, particularly with the JAVAA minutes, could cause human errors that we now need to correct. Hill Roman will eventually win his place. If those results are corrected, Hill Roman will win by 20 votes, ”said Cruz Maldonado.

Commissioner Cruz declined to sign the statement of the election results for that senatorial district of Humacao until such errors have been corrected and assured that he has communicated the situation to both new Senate President José Luis Dalmau and candidate Hill Román, that are hopeful. all of this has been corrected for the beginning of the regular session in the Senate. “I cannot rule out that there are other errors in this district, as in other areas in Puerto Rico. The form and way in which this overall investigation was organized distanced itself from the valuable verification mechanisms used at other events that would have prevented so many errors, ”Cruz concluded. The report is expected to be received from OSIPE in the coming days.
