Elden Ring is the game that almost everyone wants to hear more about, but no one knows what’s going on. After first appearing at E3 2019 last year, developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco haven’t said much about the new action title. Fortunately, if a new rumor turns out to be true, it sounds like we could learn more soon.
According to a recent conversation between an Italian streamer (WesaTwitch) and one Federico Fossetti, Elden Ring’s the first development has already been largely completed. Fossetti, who is a journalist for an Italian gaming publication, says FromSoftware is currently in the polishing phase of production with Elden Ring and that based on the company’s original timeline, the game should have already been released. Because of what happened in the course of 2020 regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the internal launch dates have eventually changed.
Rumor continues that the nature of Elden Ring is very similar to that of the Dark souls series. While all FromSoftware titles share somewhat of the same DNA, this rumor suggests that Elden Ring is incredibly similar to Dark souls. While Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was perhaps a bit of a departure for the iconic studio compared to its previous games, Elden Ring will instead seemingly revert much more closely to the formula that made FromSoftware so beloved.
Obviously, given the nature of this rumor, anything that is said should be taken with a grain of salt. That said, what is being expressed is actually a bit in line with some of the other rumors we’ve heard in recent months. Earlier in December, another rumor reported that Elden Ring is actually on track to launch in the first half of 2021. While this has clearly not been confirmed, it appears to be in line with what Fossetti is suggesting.
Assuming these rumors turn out to be true, it means we should start hearing and seeing a lot more of them Elden Ring in the coming weeks and months. For now, we only know for sure that the game will launch on an unspecified date for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
