Egypt reopens the tomb of Ramesses I in the Valley of the Kings after restoring it

Cairo, Egypt.

Egyptian authorities reopened the tomb of Pharaoh Ramses I, located in the tourist Valley of the Kings, after the completion of the restoration work.

The work to fix this funeral space excavated in the rock have consisted of removing bird and bat droppings from the walls, as well as the restoration of murals and clean the soot on it.

The reopening was chaired by the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Jaled al Anani, and the Secretary-General of the High Council of Antiquities, Mustafa Waziri, on a visit to Luxor, in whose vicinity the lush necropolis of the King’s Valley.

The grave of Ramses I, Discovered in 1817, it is 29 meters long and consists of a corridor leading to one burial chamber with well-preserved murals and a granite sarcophagus.

Ramses I. he reigned in 1292 and 1290 BC and is the founder of the XIX Dynasty.
