Edson Álvarez, Diego Lainez and the eleven of the players exchanged for the Pre-Olympic

Jaime Lozano’s team will miss elements such as Edson Álvarez and Diego Lainez in search of the Olympic ticket

Jaime Lozano had a shortlist of 50 players available for the Concacaf Pre-Olympic. The Tricolor Sub 23 coach had to pick 20 and left footballers who stood out in their clubs and others who lost their level throughout the year.

These are the 11 discarded by Jaime Lozano:

Atlas’s goalkeeper was considered on last year’s pre-Olympic list, but the tournament was postponed for a year and the goalkeeper lost his place in the rojinegros, was excluded from the championship.

‘Cachorro’ Montes is one of the most outstanding Under 23 players, because he was considered in the Mexican national team of ‘Tata’ Martino, he could not go to the Pre-Olympic.

He was in three microcycles, ahead of the final list, but runner-up under 17 did not qualify for the Guadalajara tournament.

The ‘Chicote’ Calderón was also on the list last year, but is no longer in the Mexican National Team due to his low level.

The Ajax midfielder could not be in the tournament from the start, so Jaime Lozano decided not to have him.

Lainez has been eligible for the Pre-Olympic since last year, he could not travel the entire tournament this year.

Naveda was one of the most remarkable players in the tournament, at 20 years old, he was in microcycles, but he was eventually eliminated.

Efra Álvarez did not go through the process with the Mexican Under 23 National Team, although he was considered in the pre-list, he was not on the final list.

He had regularity with Santos and received constant calls in the process, he was dropped from the final call.

Santi Giménez lost the title in Cruz Azul and that also cost him in the Mexican Pre-Olympic Selection, he was left out of the final.
