Dwayne Johnson appeared in a virtual interview on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, but his mother Ata Johnson stole the show.
The Rock was promoting its new NBC series Young Rock, which debuted on February 16, when Fallon said he didn’t know Johnson’s mom was playing the ukulele, as he saw in a video Johnson posted recently.
The 48-year-old action star surprised Fallon by bringing Ata to the camera and having her play two songs on the ukulele for him.

Fallon said he saw a video on Johnson’s Instagram where they were near the gravestones of his grandparents in Hawaii.
The talk show host said he didn’t know Ata played the ukulele, and while Johnson first tried to explain that she did, he decided to just bring her in front of the camera.
Johnson told his mom he wants her to ‘say hello to someone you know’ when she saw Fallon on screen.

Ata asked if he remembered her, he said ‘of course, from our piece’ on New Year’s Eve. I remember our piece. ‘
When she asked if he remembered what he had done, Fallon said he remembered “lying on the floor as if I were unconscious,” to which Ata said, “That was great.”
She added that she “ had the best time that night ” with Fallon and the mother of Johnson’s wife, Lauren Hashian.

When asked about the video, Ata said that “every time we go to Hawaii, we visit my parents, yes.”
She then played the Samoan national anthem Savalivali Means Go for a Walk for Fallon, which was sufficiently impressed.
Ata even said she had one more number, Johnson joked, “What do you mean you have another one?” while she continued to play an improvised song about Fallon.
