Durham, NC – A massive COVID-19 vaccination site could be in Durham soon.
Rodney Jenkins, director of Durham Public Health, said the state of North Carolina and Fidelity are about to reach an agreement for a site in the county.
“We are delighted with the potential to work together to expand our vaccination capacity here in Durham with the opening of our first mass vaccination site,” said Jenkins. “We are still working on the details such as opening hours, appointment scheduling and other logistics considerations, but our goal is to open to the public in early February.”

The province said Tuesday that a mass site would have the ability to vaccinate up to 17,000 people per week.
Injections are available by appointment at the existing Durham vaccination site, at Southern High School. Those who qualify can call the appointment line at 919-560-HELP (919-560-4357) Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm or make an appointment or register online for the county’s vaccine waiting list.
Mass vaccination sites have already been set up in other parts of the state, including Charlotte and Greenville.
