Electricity sector authorities reported today that despite working 24 hours a day to speed up repairs, plant number two at the Thermoelectric plant in Punta Catalina it will remain out of use for at least three more weeks.
The Termoeléctrica manager, Serafin Canario, said the construction consortium made up of the Odebrecht-Tecnimont-Estrella companies has arranged shifts 24 hours a day and that his management’s technicians are monitoring the works expected to be completed. February 23.
Likewise, Canario reported that energy production remains stable and that the National Interconnected Energy System (SENI) has made the location predictions to avoid impacting the population.
He explained that Consortium technicians are accelerating the repair of the damage in Boiler Nº2 from the factory and took advantage of the repair to make other corrections to avoid future downtime.
All that indicated the activities of the consortium are for its own account because the installation is still in the warranty period, which expires on April 24.
“It is important to clarify that this is the third failure Boiler No. 2 has suffered in about a year,” Canario reported.
