DrLupo raises more than $ 2 million for cancer research in one day

Twitch streamer Ben “DrLupo” Lupo today announced that he was able to raise $ 2,307,106.57 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the past day. The personality fundraising stream known as Build Against Cancer turned out to be another exciting success in what is now the third installment.

Build Against Cancer has been running since 2018 and is an event where DrLupo streams non-stop for 24 hours to raise as much money as possible for cancer research. This year’s iteration, which kicked off yesterday on December 19, saw a number of guests passing by in the flow. Some of the most notable performances included guest spots from Jordan Fisher, Robbie Amell, Mark Hoppus, Felicia Day and many, many more. DrLupo itself played a ton of popular games on the stream as well, including Fall guys, Among us, and Minecraft to name a few.

With about an hour to go before Build Against Cancer came to a close, it looked like DrLupo wouldn’t hit its $ 2 million goal, but Twitch had other plans. Like last year, Twitch came in at the last moments of the stream to announce that it would again contribute a total of $ 1 million to Build Against Cancer. DrLupo himself was unaware that this was going to happen and became quite emotional when he heard about the development.

To date, DrLupo has now been able to raise nearly $ 10 million in these Build Against Cancer streams, which is incredible. Twitch’s check that he sent to DrLupo to surprise him even included some sort of Easter egg with the amount the streamer has been able to raise in the past. Now that total will have to include the new $ 2.3 million dollar raised this weekend.

DrLupo’s latest event has shown how positive and uplifting the gaming community can be when it unites for one cause. Not to mention, it’s always encouraging to see DrLupo continuously use its platform in this way for good. He supports him because every year he continues to make a big impact on the lives of many.
