Driver leads chase in Chino after hitting alternate vehicle and taking off – NBC Los Angeles

A driver who led a multi-district chase after colliding with a substitute vehicle treated a Diamond Bar lane like a demolition derby, bumping into unsuspecting drivers before getting stuck behind a car on Tuesday.

The pursuer was in a standoff with deputies at Diamond Bar near the 60 Freeway.

Deputies had drawn weapons and fired pepper balls into the vehicle at about 4:00 PM

The chase began at 3:24 PM after the hit-and-run took place on Valley Boulevard and Grand Avenue in the city of Walnut.

Two people were taken to hospital in the aftermath of the crash.

Deputies tried several PIT maneuvers to no avail, leaving the sedan’s bumper hanging by a thread.

The red sedan also swept sideways over three other vehicles while on the run from the police, before bumping into several others.

Eventually, the chasing driver hit a silver SUV and came to a stop.

The driver was still in a stalemate with deputies at 5:40 PM

By 7pm, a SWAT team shot tear gas into the sedan to get the driver out.

A passenger got out of the sedan and a SWAT officer picked her up and carried her away.

The driver eventually left the vehicle after hours of stalemate and was taken into custody.
