Dr. Dre makes surprising special appearance in Grand Theft Auto V.

Dr. Dre has gone from making beats to making cameos in video games.

In a Twitter post that began circulating online Tuesday morning (Dec. 15), Dr. Dre and Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine featured in a clip from the novel Grand Theft Auto V. videogame update for GTA Online, The Cayo Perico Heist, launched today. Head to the tarmac of a private jet, the old friends have a brief dialogue while Dre retrieves his belongings from the trunk of their SUV in the video game.

‘Come on, Dre. Who the hell are these people? ‘ the famous record boss says to the beatmaker, referring to the group of people gathering at the entrance of the jet. “Don’t worry about it,” replies Dr. Dre. “Take it easy.”

“Okay, but I hope you brought the music with you,” continued Jimmy Iovine. “Tell me you brought the music.”

“Look, the music is in my phone, in my car, at your place,” Dre tells Iovine. Their driver, DJ Pooh, indicates and says, “Someone is skidding.”

The online game update also includes exclusive new music from producer Flying Lotus, along with rhymes from Mac Miller, Tierra Whack, MF Doom and more. Producer Scott Storch also makes a number of in-game appearances.

Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine aren’t the first members of the music industry to specifically appear in a video game Grand Theft Auto.

Earlier this month, Tyler, The Creator fans realized he was the voice of a random person Grand Theft Auto V., which came out in 2013. He confirmed his position in the game around the time it came out.

“IF YOU HAVE BIG THEFT CAR V IM THE VOICE OF RANDOMERS SO YES, ” he tweeted in 2013.

Meanwhile, TDE’s ScHoolboy Q is a character on the PGA Tour (Professional Golfers’ Association Tour) 2K21 video game that came out in the summer.
