Dow ends about 475 points lower as Nasdaq recovers from its worst drop since October

Shares typically ended lower on Friday, tumbling to the bottom of the session in the closing minutes of trading. Technology-related stocks rebounded after a flight fueled by a surge in government bond yields, but still suffered weekly losses. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA,

ended with a loss of about 475 points, or 1.5%, close to 30,928, according to preliminary figures. The blue chip meter ended the week at 1.8%, the decline was offset by a rotation in shares of companies that are more sensitive to the economic cycle. The S&P 500 SPX,

delivered a modest gain for the closing clock, ending with a loss of about 18 points, or 0.5%, close to 3,811, leaving behind a 2.5% weekly drop. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite clung to a gain of around 73 points, or 0.6%, to close out near 13,332 on Friday, after its largest one-day drop since October in the previous session. The Nasdaq was down 4.9% weekly.
