Dorit Kemsley feels for the controversial Hilaria Baldwin, who has criticized her accent in the past.
Last weekend, the 44-year-old “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding 36-year-old Baldwin, who is currently embroiled in a Spanish heritage scandal.
‘I feel bad for what she’s going through in the press right now. I don’t think she deserves it, ”said Kemsley on her Instagram story on Saturday.
“I’ve paid so much attention to the way I speak, I’ve learned to ignore all the noise, but it was really painful in the beginning. I’m sure all this backlash has been hard on her, ”she continued.
Kemsley added, although she doesn’t personally know Alec Baldwin’s wife, she is looking forward to her return to social media.
“I don’t know her, but I’ve been following her for years and I hope she’ll be back on social media soon,” Kemsley wrote.
The Bravo star added that she’s hopeful online trolls in the new year.
“I’d like to see less trolling and bullying on social media by 2021. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all,” Kemsley concluded.
Recently, Baldwin has defended her fluctuating Spanish accent and also admitted that she was born in Boston as Hillary, and not Mallorca, Spain, as Hilaria.
“There are some questions about where I was born, I was born in Boston … I spent part of my childhood in Boston, part of my childhood in Spain, my family, my brother, my parents, my cousin, everyone’s over there in Spain now, I’m here, ”Baldwin said in an Instagram video last week.
Kemsley, who joined the cast of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” in Season 7, asked questions about her own accent in a 2017 interview with Bravo’s Daily Dish.
‘I think the way I speak is probably a combination of many things. First and foremost, I am married to a Brit who has a very, very strong London accent, and I am sure some of his inflections have passed over on me, ” said Kemsley of her husband Paul Kemsley, aka PK.
‘My parents are not Americans. I was born and raised in America. I have spent a considerable amount of time, almost 10 years, back and forth to Europe, ”she added at the time.
