Donald Trump was acquitted in his impeachment – US and Canada – International


After facing his second impeachment trial, Donald Trump met his followers again while entering his home in Mar-a-Lago, located in the south of the state of Florida, in the United States.

The meeting took place after the Senate verdict acquitting Trump of the impeachment to which he was subject.

The attacks on the Capitol on January 6 were not enough for the Republican Party to turn its armr, as only 7 lawmakers from that political group have joined the 50 representatives of the Democratic Party (majority in the Senate) to vote for impeachment.

At the end, the Democratic Party won the vote 57-43 but this was not enough to pass the two-thirds threshold of the Senate that would have buried Trump’s political life.

After meeting his followers, The former president left his home to play golf at Trump International Golf Club, located in West Palm Beach, and made a written statement.

“Our historic, patriotic, and beautiful movement to make America great again has only just begun,” Trump said as he wrote.

For his part, after the announcement of the acquittal, Trump’s lawyers insisted that their client undergo a witch hunt intended to avoid reelection.

The social sanction against one of the most controversial presidents in United States history remains, but the failure of the second impeachment could open the door to becoming president in 2024.
