“The truth is, it has always been very difficult. I must have been on 20 or 25 different diets and everything failed. At one point they were successful and then failed. So I first tried not to eat sugar and avoid carbohydrates, ”admitted the animator, whose real name is Mario Kreutzberger.
And in his quest for balance to control the disease, which causes spikes and dips in blood sugar levels that affect the system, Don Francisco confessed to becoming a vegetarian for several years after several failed diets.
“Over time it is difficult to understand that diets don’t work, you have to find a way to live, a way to eat,” said the anomator, who turned his life upside down after a trip to India, where he said goodbye. took of red meat. “I liked the system and I was a vegetarian for seven years. But later on, with ‘The Traveling Camera’, I had to go to Norway where I didn’t hear about vegetables and went back to eating fish and meat and everything else ”.
Despite his illness, Don Francisco states that he tries to enjoy a forbidden taste from time to time.
“You have to give yourself some presents … In my personal case, for example, I don’t eat carbohydrates all week, except for one day a week, then I eat everything,” the presenter told the aforementioned publication.
The Chilean animator emphasized that diabetes is such a serious disease in which food consumption must be measured and recalled an experience he had 20 years ago with a team from his segment, the ‘Traveling Camera’, who taught him that from then on must move forward. be very careful with the food and the amounts to prevent the disease from getting worse.
“We all weighed ourselves on the airport scale and I told the cameraman, the sound engineer [y] to the journalist who accompanied me: ‘I’m going to eat exactly half of what you eat … If they ate a loaf, I would eat half a loaf. When they ate a soup, I had half a soup … After fifteen days we weighed ourselves at the same weight at the same airport and everyone had kept their weight except me, who had put on three kilos, ”says Don Francisco. “This meant I had to take better care of myself because others didn’t have my problem.”
