Dominion Voting Systems sent a cease-and-desist letter to Mike Lindell, CEO of My Pillow, Monday about his spread of disinformation related to the 2020 election.
Why it matters: Trump and several of his allies have pushed false conspiracy theories about the company, prompting Dominion to take legal action. It is suing pro-Trump attorney Sidney Powell for defamation and $ 1.3 billion in damages, and a Dominion employee has sued Trump himself, OANN and Newsmax.
- The letter also orders Lindell to “keep and keep all records pertaining to Dominion and your smear campaign against the company.”
- Lindell must also maintain all communications with every member of the Trump campaign, in addition to communications with Rudy Giuliani, Powell, Jenna Ellis and Lin Wood.
Lindell told Axios, “I want Dominion to sue because we have 100% proof that China and other countries have used their machines to steal the election.”
The big picture: Lindell met with Trump last week and was caught by photographers taking notes on martial law and Sidney Powell. The CEO has become known for peddling conspiracies to overturn the election and last year promoted a bogus cure for the coronavirus.
What they say: Dominion’s letter reads … “Despite knowing that your unlikely attacks on Dominion have no basis in reality, you have participated in the extensive and coordinated disinformation campaign to defame Dominion … A lawsuit on these issues is imminent. . “
