RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Former Dominion Energy chairman, president, and chief executive officer Thomas F. Farrell, II, passed away one day after stepping down from his leadership role at the company.
Dominion Energy said that Farrell, 66, had battled cancer and turned around in recent weeks.
Farrell served as chairman, president, and chief executive officer from 2007 to 2020.
“Tom was an unparalleled mentor and outstanding leader seeking innovative solutions to challenges at Dominion Energy, in the utility industry and in the community he called home,” said Chairman, President and CEO Robert M. Blue. During his tenure with the company, Tom oversaw an era of prosperity and growth, and a long-term transformation that will have a lasting impact on clean energy development and environmental health. He especially liked to spend time with his wife, his sons and their husbands and his grandchildren. We will miss him greatly and offer our deepest condolences to his loving family. “
Farrell became Dominion’s president and chief operating officer in 2004, president and chief executive officer in 2006, and was elected chairman in 2007 – the position he held until April 1.
