Vaccines manufactured by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna are approved by the FDA for emergency authorization. Both vaccines require recipients to receive two doses, 21 days apart, to achieve a maximum effectiveness of approximately 95%.

According to NBC News senior medical correspondent, Dr. John Torres, vaccination-induced immunity is expected to last for a few years; however, more research needs to be done to determine the longevity of its effectiveness.
