“The president received routine X-rays today. Both small fractures of his foot are completely healed,” said Dr. Kevin O’Connor after Biden’s visit to Delaware Orthopedic Specialists earlier Saturday.
“This injury has healed as expected, and he will return to his usual training regimen,” added O’Connor, who has been Biden’s primary care physician since 2009 and director of executive medicine at The George Washington Medical Faculty Associates.
In an earlier statement on Saturday, O’Connor said that Biden’s “symptoms have improved as expected, and that he is following a strict physical therapy regimen.”
“As we initially explained, foot sprains can sometimes be a greater injury than the fractures that accompany them. This X-ray is designed to check if he has achieved good ligamentous stability,” said O’Connor. reason behind the “weight-bearing X-ray taken 10 weeks after the injury.”
At the time of the injury, Biden was just celebrating his 78th birthday on November 20 and would become the oldest president in US history.
During the campaign, the Biden Campaign released a summary of Biden’s medical history, showing that the former vice president was healthy and fit for president.
O’Connor wrote at the time that Biden is “a healthy, vigorous” man “capable of successfully carrying out the duties of the Presidency.”
