DMXs family released a statement quelling a few rumors that have surfaced since his untimely death.
On Monday (April 12), music journalist Sowmya Krishnamurthy shared the release on Twitter. “There have been a few rumors following the death of our loved one, Earl Simmons, that we would like to clarify,” the statement read. “Nobody bought Earl’s masters. Plus, we don’t sell merchandise or raise money for Earl’s funeral. If someone asks for money for their funeral, keep in mind that the person is a scammer. We will keep the public informed of funeral / memorial services arrangements. – Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons’ Family. “
REVOLT previously reported that Swizz Beatz denied rumors that JAY-Z and Beyoncé had bought the masters from X. According to the It’s dark and hell is hot Emcee’s death, an article began circulating about the alleged purchase of The Carters. The article’s title read, “JAY-Z and Beyoncé are buying back the masters of DMX for $ 10 million and giving free to his 17 children.” The piece spread across multiple social media platforms, although there was no real source to back up the claims.
Swizz simply stopped the rumors by writing, “Not a Real King,” under someone’s Instagram post of the fake article.
Last Friday (April 9), the rapper of Ruff Ryders unfortunately passed away after a heart attack. His family revealed the news in a statement, saying he “fought to the end.”
Tributes started pouring in from all over the world as people took to social media to commemorate one of the greatest rappers ever. Over the weekend, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano spoke to TMZ about a possible memorial, which could come in the form of a street name, statue or mural. He also recommended hosting the X’s memorial service at the Yonkers Raceway.
