Bassnectar, an EDM DJ and record producer, has been named in a lawsuit accusing him of sex trafficking and possession of pornography involving minors.

Bassnectar, 43, whose full name is Lorin Ashton, was charged by a few women who claimed to have had sex with them when they were underage, and took measures to cover up his illegal behavior, according to court documents reviewed by TMZ on Monday.

In the lawsuit, the women, identified as Rachel and Alexis, are seeking damages for emotional issues and medical expenses.

The women said Bassnectar had used social media to reach them both, Rachel in 2012 and Alexis in 2014, through direct messages on social media, according to court documents reviewed by TMZ.

Rachel and Alexis said in the documents that the Santa Cruz-born musical artist had asked them to watch the 1999 film American Beauty, which they described in legal documents as “ a film about an older man who is in a relationship with a young girl. ‘. to the respective roles played in the film by Kevin Spacey and Mena Suvari.

The women said the musical artist mentioned the movie and plot in his shows, TMZ reported, citing court documents.

Both women allege in the lawsuit that they made it clear to Bassnectar that they were both minors before he sent them tickets to the show and asked the women back to his hotel for sexual encounters, the outlet reported, citing court documents.

The EDM DJ ‘required’ their relationships to be ‘without a condom,’ the women said in court documents assessing TMZ.

The women told the court that Bassnectar had given them amounts between $ 300 and $ 1,600 and tried to control their lives and make sure they remain silent about the sexual encounters, according to court documents reviewed by TMZ.

Rachel said in court documents that she came into contact with Bassnectar in late 2012 and their sexual relationship began in May 2013. Bassnectar encouraged Rachel to “take and send nude, sexually-explicit photos of herself,” the women said in the lawsuit.

Alexis said in court documents that Bassnectar contacted her in 2014 and that they had sex multiple times over the next two years, all the time she was a minor.

Bassnectar has issued a statement in the wake of allegations that surfaced last summer denying sexual misconduct.

‘The rumors of sexual misconduct circulating about me are completely untrue. I want to leave it at that, because it really is that simple, ”he said in a Facebook fan group set to private, Your EDM reported last June. ‘I have never been involved in anything that was not an absolute, unambiguous consensus. At a time when high-profile men are being called upon for their violence against women, I take pride in being an ally of women and showing solidarity with the victims.

“Thank you to all those who listen to real victims of abuse and stand to support women.”

In screengrabs circulating on social media in the wake of the statement, the artist set out his past.

“When I was in my twenties and thirties, I was constantly traveling and never felt like I had a permanent home,” Bassnectar wrote. ‘Most of the women I met were younger than me and were in college, which didn’t seem strange, wrong, or creepy at the time.

“We had a lot of fun together, and in most cases we shared a good bond or long-term friendship.”

He continued, “ Looking back, I just wish I had never opened up to someone I met along the way because any relationship in that context had the potential to be complicated or misinterpreted or cause unintended emotional damage to others . ‘
