Long lines of people lined up on Wednesday to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but some county residents who were trying to get vaccinated reported having trouble booking an appointment through the Othena registration app.
District leaders say their registration app was overwhelmed. According to the Orange County Health Care Agency, about 10,000 people registered to make an appointment at night.

Some who had trouble scheduling an appointment even got a message saying they couldn’t register anymore. The county says it is working to fix the issues and that more registration slots will open when the county receives more vaccines.
Residents can find more information about making an appointment on Othena’s site and can download the app from the App Store.
The province is asking people without an appointment not to come to the Super POD site as that would overwhelm the system and make the distribution of vaccines more challenging. Health leaders warn that appointments are needed to keep everything running smoothly.
Disneyland is the first of five Super POD locations in Orange County with the capacity to vaccinate thousands of people every day. The other sites will be announced when their agreements are finalized.
County health officials Tuesday opened access for vaccines to residents 65 and older, and the state is now following in the county’s footsteps.
To date, Orange County has received more than 170,000 vaccines, according to OCHA director Dr. Clayton Chau. To get more vaccines, Chau said it is critical for the county to prove to the state that Super PODS like the Disneyland site are successful, and that people want the vaccine.
