Disney Parks Debut New ‘Gender Flexible’ Costumes, ‘Inclusion’ Training for Theme Park Cast Members

To keep up with the rest of the company’s descent into ‘wokeism’, Disney Parks will introduce a number of key measures aimed at promoting ‘inclusion’ at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and Disneyland in Anaheim , California, and across America. properties, including the many child-friendly resorts.

It is not clear whether Disney will roll out the same measures at its properties in Europe, China, Japan and Hong Kong.

For starters, Disney Parks will introduce “ gender flexible ” costumes for its non-binary “ cast members ” – what Disney calls its park and resort employees – and will relax the company’s strict guidelines for the look of the company, allowing first-time cast members to to have some visible tattoos and jewelry and to deviate from the strict dress code of the park.

Buzzfeed News reported that the company “announced more inclusive changes to its unified policy on Tuesday for employees working in the company’s theme parks, easing restrictions on things like tattoos, nail styles and jewelry.” The new policy, the company says, will give cast members “ more flexibility ” to better express their cultures and individuality at work. ”

The company will also “begin to remove gender references for employee suits.”

Character costumes seem unaffected yet, so Disney’s princesses are unlikely to be played by male cast members (and her princes played by women), but the company does say they’ll be introducing some variations of site-specific costumes to accommodate to “non-binary” cast members who do not want to wear specific masculine or feminine costumes.

“Looking ahead, we believe that our cast, who are at the center of the magic that lives in all of our experiences, can deliver the best of Disney’s legendary guest service when they have more options for personal expression – to create richer, more personal and more. engaging experiences with our guests, ”Josh D’Amaro, president of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, said in a statement.

The costume changes are part of an important step in Disney’s overall standards for parks. Previously, cast members were asked to adhere to ‘Four Keys’. Disney Parks management is now adding a “Fifth Key”: “inclusion”.

“This is just the beginning as we continue to build a world where we all belong – including a more diverse and inclusive Disney Parks, Experiences and Products,” added D’Amaro.

The ‘Four Keys’ refer to a Disney training philosophy in which theme park cast members are trained to prioritize the ‘safety, courtesy, show and efficiency’ elements, in that order, to ensure that theme park guests enjoy their experiences, ”noted Bounding into Comics in reporting the change, including, according to D’Amaro, changes to iconic Disney attractions.

To promote their new focus on inclusivity, D’Amaro pointed out how the company would ‘reinvent our attractions to be more inclusive, such as upcoming improvements to Jungle Cruise and new adventures with Princess Tiana’ and ‘celebrating the diverse and inspiring stories from our cast and fans with creator collaborations and exciting experiences, such as The Soul of Jazz exhibition at Walt Disney World Resort, ” said Bounding into Comics.

Princess Tiana, the star of ‘The Princess and the Frog’, will star in a ‘reimagining’ of the Disney ride ‘Splash Mountain’, previously themed after the controversial Disney feature ‘Song of the South’ of the years thirty.

“Like The Four Keys before them, The 5 Keys – with Inclusion at its heart – will continue to lead us as we engage with guests, collaborate, create the next generation of Disney products and experiences, and make critical decisions about the future of our business , “D’Amaro announced.” Inclusion is essential to our culture and moves us forward as we continue to realize our rich legacy of compelling storytelling, exceptional service and Disney magic. “
