Buzzfeed News reported that the company “announced more inclusive changes to its unified policy on Tuesday for employees working in the company’s theme parks, easing restrictions on things like tattoos, nail styles and jewelry.” The new policy, the company says, will give cast members “ more flexibility ” to better express their cultures and individuality at work. ”
The company will also “begin to remove gender references for employee suits.”
Character costumes seem unaffected yet, so Disney’s princesses are unlikely to be played by male cast members (and her princes played by women), but the company does say they’ll be introducing some variations of site-specific costumes to accommodate to “non-binary” cast members who do not want to wear specific masculine or feminine costumes.

The costume changes are part of an important step in Disney’s overall standards for parks. Previously, cast members were asked to adhere to ‘Four Keys’. Disney Parks management is now adding a “Fifth Key”: “inclusion”.
