Disney has created “real” Star Wars lightsabers for future use in theme parks

During the virtual event ‘A Special Look Inside Disney Parks’ today, Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro showed a ‘real’ Star Wars lightsaber for future use in Disney parks.

Josh D’Amaro closed today’s event by removing a handle and a knife came out of nowhere, mimicking a real lightsaber. He himself confirmed the authenticity by saying, “It’s real.”

Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro did a mic drop at the end of the virtual press conference, but with a real lightsaber. It happened so quickly. I am shaking.

It is very possible that this ‘real’ lightsaber technology will be used in Disney parks in the future, with some people wondering if it will be used in the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel coming to Walt Disney World as Disney promises guests a “Fully immersive, multi-day Star Wars adventure.”

Most intriguing to me (I’m reviewing Orlando) was at the very end. D’Amaro had a lightsaber that took off a (plastic?) Saber on its own. Maybe saber at Galactic Starcruiser?
