Diego Areco: “I feel confident and motivated”

Paraguayan striker Diego Areco will be Santa Tecla’s last reinforcement for this Clausura 2021. In the end, everything was given for the Guaraní striker to return to Salvadoran football after his time at FAS and Jocoro.

When the signing with Uruguayan Jonathan Soto fell through, the way was left open for Diego Areco, who had left the country after playing his last tournament at FAS, where he was the top scorer with eight goals.

At the age of 28 and with a record 28 goals in his last three short tournaments in El Salvador, Areco signed with the Esmeralda club for a short tournament.

“I am happy to return to the country, to train with the team and have a new club. Everyone knows that Santa Tecla is a good team, we just hope to be at the Santa Tecla level,” South American attacker.

Unlike the previous tournament, where the parrots did not win in the first round of the regional phase, in this Clausura those now led by Rubén da Silva have already achieved two wins in the first three matches of the competition.

“Santa Tecla has shown a good face in these three games and the truth is this motivates, he has always shown good football and creates a lot of scoring opportunities, which is important to me. I am grateful to them, the group, for how I receive them. That’s very important, ”he added.

The Paraguayan forward is aware that in Santa Tecla they have placed hopes on him to improve the team’s scoring ability, so he takes on the new challenge with motivation and confidence that things will turn out right.

“I feel motivated and trust that everything will come out in the best way, now I have to do my part, train, try to get in shape and try to help the team, that’s why they hired me, I want the team and that they help me score goals, ”he concluded.
