Did the Jets screw up by winning? Why did the Eagles wait to start Jalen Hurts? Assessment of the NFL’s overreactions at week 15

If you are a fan of a team, you always enjoy watching your team win. Turn right?

For example, if you’re a fan of the Jets, and you’ve watched every game this season as they lost and lost and lost, sometimes in inexplicable ways, and entered week 15 with a 0-13 record, then you absolutely loved it great to watch them beat the Rams on Sunday. Turn right???

It was a dominant win. A historic victory. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Jets are the second 0-13 team in NFL history to win a game where they were never left behind. The others were the 1962 Raiders, who defeated the Patriots in week 15 of that season, and if you google the 1962 Raiders you’ll find out their quarterback’s name was Cotton Davidson. So that’s great too, right? Turn right??????

You can see where I’m going with this. Jets fans, or at least a meaningful percentage of them, maybe not be happy that their team won on Sunday. After suffering so long through a brutal, winless season, the fan base began to take comfort in the knowledge that they would at least be rewarded with the # 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft and a shot at superstar Clemson quarterback Trevor. Lawrence. The Jaguars came in on Sunday with a record of 1-12 and were waxed by the Ravens in the early Sunday period. So Jets fans knew their team had to lose to “stay ahead” of Jacksonville in the race for Lawrence.

Cue the clichés. The Jets don’t even know how to lose right, etc. It might be unconventional to lead the week 15 overreaction column with the two worst teams in the league, but hey, it was an unconventional year:

The Jets’ victory was their most disappointing game of the season
