Aside from the 2019 reveal, the last few days have brought with them most of the news we’ve had Diablo 4 so far. And while we may not have had a new tremendous amount of information about the game in this way for quite some time, Blizzard has made sure that even more routine updates on development are scheduled for this year.
Like last year, Blizzard has confirmed it will do quarterly updates for Diablo 4 over the course of 2021. Speaking here at ComicBook.com, Diablo 4Lead Systems Designer Joe Piepiora said the routine updates to the game that took place throughout 2020 will continue this year. While there will be no update for the game this quarter, given all the information just revealed during BlizzCon, more information will come at a later date.
Piepiora further said that the Diablo 4 Quarterly updates are not only beneficial for fans who want to learn more about the upcoming action RPG, but also help the Blizzard team to know how their work is being received by the community. “We love the quarterly updates. It’s a great way for us because we are so iterative as a development team, ”explained Piepiora. “We love the idea of being able to publish as a blog post with some pretty detailed, meaty design information to give you an idea of how the game will play and see the community response to it. We take that feedback we get […] and we try to integrate that into our thinking as we think about this stuff. It’s helpful to get that feedback as we go through the process. “
At this point, we still don’t know when the next quarterly update will take place, but sometime in late spring seems likely. If there’s anything noteworthy in that update, we’ll share the details with you here at ComicBook.com.
Diablo 4 still doesn’t have a release window and will probably be in development for quite some time. However, when it does come out, it is slated to come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X iterations are also likely to be announced in the future.
