A 28-year-old man, identified as Christopher Pekny of New York, died around noon yesterday Sunday after a device that was to be used to reveal the gender of his baby exploded, resulting in fatal injuries.
According to the police report, they responded to a call for an explosion at a residence in the city of Liberty when they encountered the tragic scene.
The investigation revealed that Pekny was building the device that would be used at a party to reveal the baby’s gender.
The explosion not only claimed the young man’s life, but also seriously injured his brother, Michael Pekny, 27.
The incident is still being investigated by the New York State Police Explosives Unit.
