Deshaun Watson reportedly prefers trade to Jets

Go ahead, Jets fans. Dream big – Deshaun Watson big.

The disgruntled Pro Bowl quarterback reportedly has the Jets at the top of his wish list, followed by the rival Dolphins, according to the Miami Herald.

Watson, a 25-year-old star, has become disenchanted with the Texans and has a no-trade clause that gives him power over his next stop. The Miami Herald reported that Watson is enamored with new Jets coach Robert Saleh, and wanted the Texans to target the former defensive coordinator of the 49ers for their vacant position as head coach.

Watson, a three-time Pro Bowler, is said to be angry with the Texans because after initially promising to be part of their recruitment process for their new general manager, his input was largely ignored. The team eventually hired Nick Caserio, former Patriots director. Watson was also upset last year when the Texans traded his main target, DeAndre Hopkins, to the Cardinals.

Cornering Richard Sherman applauded Saleh’s hire by the Jets and told Watson to force the Texans to trade him there.

“I’d get out of there as soon as possible, I’d go to New York,” Sherman said on the Cris Collinsworth podcast recently.

This report is the latest example of Watson’s potential desire to play for the Jets. The Texas star’s official Instagram account found a photo from the back page of Monday’s The Post that said the Jets had to do “Whatever It Takes” to acquire the quarterback.

Watson was also in the area, attending a Brooklyn Nets game last week and is said to be friends with Kevin Durant.

The Jets had a chance to take Watson out of Clemson in 2017, but took Jamal Adams at No. 6 instead. Watson fell all the way to the Texans at No. 12.
