Deputy candidate arrested for wrongful death and dangerous driving | News from El Salvador

The accident happened on Tuesday around 12:30 pm on Monseñor Romero Boulevard. The CAM agent was conducting an inspection when he was attacked by Karina Jasmín Flores, the PNC said.

Karina Jasmín Flores, candidate for deputy of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC), was arrested on Tuesday after causing a traffic accident in an apparent state of intoxication, the National Civil Police reported.

Flores is charged with the crimes of dangerous driving and manslaughter after causing the death of Saúl Ramos Vásquez, 45, an agent of the Metropolitan Corps of Agents (CAM).

The accident happened on Tuesday at around 12:30 PM on Monseñor Romero Boulevard, at the creation of the ring known as El Príncipito.

Ramos Vásquez was inspecting a vehicle at miles 8 1/2 of Monseñor Romero Boulevard when the inmate hit the CAM patrol in the back, seriously injuring the victim who was taken to hospital where he died.

Authorities point out that the 44-year-old candidate, who also works as a singer and broadcaster, was driving in an apparently drunk condition.

“The detainee refused to be subjected to the alcohol test,” the police source said via Twitter, adding that she will be made available to appropriate authorities so that the corresponding investigations can begin.
