Demi Lovato was in a somewhat icy situation.
The ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ artist caught a ton of nonsense on Sunday after scolding the local Los Angeles area frozen yogurt shop, The Bigg Chill, for its plethora of sugar-free options, and her more than 100 million Instagram followers wrote that the popular small businesses gave in to ‘diet culture’.
Fast forward to Monday, Lovato, 28, spoke of the backlash she received for comments she publicly shared from her exchange with the frozen yogurt shop.
While discussing the incident on Instagram Live, Lovato opened up again about her struggles with eating disorders, telling her followers that her post had been “ misinterpreted. ”

‘I’m sorry I got the message wrong. I’m sorry I let some people down, ”she said.

Elsewhere in the video, Lovato went on to say, “When I messaged this froyo place, I originally wanted to make something clear, and I wanted to mention behaviors or branding that were not a good fit for me. As someone dealing with an eating disorder and is recovering. of an eating disorder, to this day I still struggle to walk into a froyo shop, order yogurt and be satisfied with it and keep it down. “
“I know that doesn’t seem like a big deal to a lot of people, but it is to me,” she continued, adding that Lovato was not fully aware of the fact that certain “diet” and “health foods” while in the store. “offerings were intended” for specific health needs. “

“I didn’t know that,” she said. “Since it wasn’t clear, I definitely drew conclusions and probably shouldn’t have approached this the way I did, but I’m willing to talk to this froyo store to get the coverage right.”
Lovato said on Sunday that she “found it extremely difficult to order froyo from @thebiggchillofficial when you have to walk past tons of sugar-free cookies / other diet foods before going to the counter.”

She further instructed the company to “Do it better please” and called the yogurt shop “#dietculturevultures.”
The local establishment did not respond too kindly to Lovato’s criticism and responded to the singer.

“We’re not a diet vulture,” The Bigg Chill wrote to Lovato in a direct message – which she shared publicly. “We’ve been serving our customers’ needs for 36 years. We’re sorry you found this offensive.”
On her own Instagram account, The Bigg Chill also wrote back to Lovato and tagged her social.
“We have items for diabetics, celiac, vegans and, of course, many delicious items,” wrote the frozen yogurt shop.
But Lovato insisted on her complaints on Sunday – as she had the company’s attention – and insisted that the sugar-free offering was really just one of her problems with the company.

‘Not only that. Your service was awful. So rude, ”Lovato fumed. “The whole experience was exciting and awful. You can wear things for other people and at the same time provide a different percentage of your customers who are struggling DAILY to even set foot in your store.”
Lovato added, “You can find a way to provide an inviting environment for all people with different needs. Including eating disorders – one of the deadliest mental illnesses that ranks only second to opios. [sic] overdoses, “Lovato added, referring to her drug overdose in 2018.” Don’t make excuses, just do better. “
The Bigg Chill seemed to have had it with the “Dancing With the Devil” singer at the time, as Lovato’s message was left on “read.”

Many people on social media responded to Lovato’s rant by slamming the star. ‘Demi lovato is awful. She complains about a yogurt shop with sugar-free cookies. She should be the definition of pathetic, ‘ wrote a person.
Added one more critic: “Is Demi Lovato seriously complaining about a yogurt shop with sugar-free options.”
Lovato has been widely outspoken about her struggles with eating disorders such as bulimia and overcoming drug use.

In a recent documentary entitled “Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil,” she noted participating in beauty pageants at a young age, disrupting her relationship with food and beauty.
The document revealed that Lovato had an eating disorder relapse that began on her “Tell Me You Love Me” tour in 2018 by exercising too much and controlling her eating.

While on tour, people around her had to be tested for drugs on a regular basis and were reportedly instructed by Lovato’s former team to be “careful” about what and how they ate with her.
The owner of The Bigg Chill, Cary Russell, did not immediately respond to Fox News’ calls for comment.
