Demi Lovato has revealed that her 2018 overdose was more serious than anyone guessed.
The 28-year-old singer explained to CBS Sunday Morning that she was just minutes from death when she was found that fateful night.
“The doctors told me I had five to 10 minutes and … as if if no one had found me, I wouldn’t be here,” she said in a clip released Friday.

“The doctors told me I had five to 10 minutes and … as if if no one had found me, I wouldn’t be here,” 28-year-old singer told correspondent Tracy Smith in a clip released Friday.

Demi has been open about her long struggle with substance abuse and her difficulty in taking control of her life, saying she ‘had to die to essentially wake up’.
She explained in the conversation that she is now in a much better place: ‘I feel good … I feel more joy in my life than I have ever felt because [I’m not] calm or diminish part of myself. ‘
The Skyscraper artist was hospitalized after a night of partying in July 2018 for an overdose of heroin laced with the dangerous sedative fentanyl.

Lovato admitted that the traumatic event left her legally blind and is still dealing with hearing loss, ringing in the ears, and blind spots in her vision.
The musician made this revelation in her new documentary Dancing with the Devil, which debuted at the SXSW Film Festival on Tuesday.
She said in the document that she was unable to see her sister during a bedside visit following her overdose, TMZ reported.
‘It was interesting how quickly I adapted. ‘I didn’t give myself time to feel really sad about it. I just thought, “How do I fix it?” She said according to the publication.

In a preview of the documentary released last month, Lovato said she suffered a heart attack and three strokes in the aftermath of her June 2018 overdose in her Los Angeles home.
Demi admitted to CBS that the relapse came after a period of deep accident: “However, I have been sober for years, but I still feel miserable.”
‘I had no control over my life at the time. But yes, I also had to grow up and take charge.
‘And that’s something I’ve only done in the past two years of my life [why] I now have control over my finances. I’m now in control of… the food I eat, how often I exercise, ”she told Smith.
