Delivery Delayed For Nearly 10,000 Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccine In North Texas – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, the delivery of nearly 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines in North Texas has been delayed.

The DSHS said in a statement:

“DSHS has learned that, based on federal shipping schedules, the vaccine ordered on Friday and expected today will arrive now tomorrow, January 19, based on the most current information from Pfizer and our federal partners. The delay affected 55 of the 263 healthcare providers who would receive a vaccine this week. “

Of the 55 affected locations statewide, five are in North Texas.

Its North Texas locations include Collin County Health Care Services, the McKinney Fire Department, the City of Garland Health Department, Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, and Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic.

Due to the delay, 9,975 doses are expected to arrive a day later than planned.

It is unclear what impact the delays will have on distribution, as many providers were closed for the MLK Jr. holiday on Monday. In cities across the state, vaccination appointments on Monday had to be moved to later this week and are “contingent on the delivery of the doses,” a San Antonio city official said in a statement.
