Lawmakers said they heeded prosecutor Raúl Melara’s request to defile Arriaza Chicas when he held the position of Deputy Secretary of Security.

According to Nidia Díaz, of the FMLN, in accordance with the request of the Attorney General, Raúl Melara, the Assembly decided to strip Arriaza Chicas of his jurisdiction as Deputy Minister of Security, but explained that although the courts acquitted him , his “disobedience to the constitution will go down in history”.

On this basis, they declared to the prosecutor’s office that Arriaza Chicas had “taken over functions” and that there was “procedural fraud”.
PCN Representative Raúl Beltrhán Bonilla, for his part, appreciated that the police chief’s resolution favoring him “is the law and must be respected. It is the decision of the judge, well according to the law, it must be respected as such ”.
The Fifth Justice of the Peace of San Salvador rejected Arriaza Chicas, arguing that the Assembly’s order to rush the Secretary of the Treasury lacks factual and legal arguments.
After taking note of the resolution, the Prosecution also believed that it was due to procedural errors of the Assembly in this matter.
