A loyal dog waited outside a hospital in Turkey for nearly a week for her owner to be released after being treated for a brain disorder.
The dedicated dog, named Boncuk, followed the ambulance that brought Cemal Senturk, 68, to the hospital in the Black Sea city of Trabzon on Jan. 14, DHA news agency reported.
Bonuck – whose name means “beads,” in reference to her hazel eyes – then returned to the entrance each morning to continue her lonely vigil, where the hospital staff sometimes fed her.
“She poses no danger to anyone. Everyone saw the relationship between the dog and her owner. It makes everyone happy, ”said hospital representative Fuat Ugur, according to Reuters.
Guard Muhammet Akdeniz told DHA, “She comes every day around 9am and waits until nightfall. She’s not going in. When the door opens, she sticks her head in. “
Senturk’s daughter, Aynur Egeli, said she tried several times to take Boncuk home, but the dog would run straight back to the hospital.
When Senturk was finally released on Wednesday, an overjoyed Boncuk ran beside his wheelchair, jumped up to be stroked, and wagged her tail.
“It makes people very happy. The dog is very close to us, as a human, and it makes you happy, ”Senturk said.
‘She’s very used to me. And I also miss her constantly, ”he added.
